Mackerel doesn’t do subtlety; neither in appearance nor flavour! Its rich flavour makes it perfect for blending, and for the times when a snack isn’t quite enough, but a meal is too much, pâté is the answer. 

So we’ve whipped up this tasty and simple mackerel pâté recipe, that only uses 5 ingredients, but still packs a punch in flavour.

  • 2 x Cornish smoked mackerel fillets
  • 2 x tbsp creme fraiche
  • 2 x tsp horseradish
  • 2-3 sprigs of parsley
  • Juice from 1/2 a lemon
  • Your favourite crusty bread


  1. Remove the skin from your fresh smoked Cornish mackerel, and break it up as you add to the blender
  2. Add the creme fraiche, horseradish, lemon juice, parsley and black pepper
  3. Blend until smooth
  4. Spread generously onto your favourite crusty bread, and enjoy!
